Research shows that teachers must have a variety of knowledge, skills and attitudes to set up powerful learning environments in which various learners are challenged to the maximum. From this academic year, we organize the training of these teachers at the University of Leuven in educational Master’s programs with a strong focus on pedagogical content knowledge (PCK). This focus on PCK presupposes that student teachers also have in-depth substantive knowledge as well as a rich arsenal of pedagogical-didactic insights (Pedagogical knowledge – PK). In other words, no PCK without CK or PK. During this presentation we propose an affordable basic book in which PK shows itself. This contemporary interpretation is the result of an iterative process in which more than 40 authors from various fields participated. The result provides frameworks and terminology to recognize and value education in its full complexity.
