Marjoleine Dobbelaer is interested in the evaluation and improvement of teaching quality and worked as a researcher at the Dutch inspectorate of Education. She now is finishing her doctoral dissertation on classroom observation at the University of Twente. She has developed a framework in support of the development, selection, and use of classroom observation systems and used this framework to evaluate existing classroom observation systems for measuring teaching quality in primary education. She also investigated how raters’ ratings of lesson quality relate to students’ and teachers’ perceptions of lesson quality in secondary education.
